FISTULA

Anal Fistula is the term for an infected tunnel that develops between the skin and the muscular opening at the end of the digestive tract, which is the anus.

The anal fistula is categorized as per the condition of the tract and of the internal opening to the anal sphincter muscle. Most commonly, the fistula develops due to an untreated anal abscess which leads to an infection in the tunnel.
